Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap recently took to his social media to share a clip, promoting his friend and director-writer Vikramaditya Motwane’s latest project, the Amazon Prime web series, Jubilee.
Venting and abusing at a character from the show called Madan Kumar (played by Nandish Sandhu), Anurag said that Madan was the one who used to stand outside his residence and office buildings begging for work, but now that he has his own thing going on, he rejected an offer made to him by Kashyap.
Speaking in Hindi, Kashyap could be heard saying in the clip, “Who gave him Motwane’s contact? I did. He used to beg for roles, but now that he has a project in hand, he is acting smart. Now, let me see, let me give Motwane Vicky Kaushal’s number.”
For the unversed, it was Anurag who gave Kaushal a break in his cult classic Gangs of Wasseypur, as one of the assistant directors, and the director also ended up using his silhouette for one shot of the film, as the actor later revealed. The two then collaborated for the romantic drama Manmarziyaan, which marked the comeback of Abhishek Bachchan on big screen. It also starred Taapsee Pannu as the female lead. More recently, Kaushal was seen making a special appearance in Anurag’s last release, Almost Pyaar with DJ Mohabbat.
Meanwhile, Jubilee is a period drama set in the 50s and charts the story of some of the key characters of Hindi cinema at the time. The show stars actors like Wamiqa Gabbi, Prosenjit Chatterjee and Aditi Rao Hydari among others in pivotal roles. It releases on April 7 on Amazon Prime Video.
