Telugu star Vijay Deverakonda is all set to return to the big screen with Family Star, and he feels “blessed” to have such a well-written character. In a recent interview, Deverakonda spoke about his Family star character and drew comparisons with his character in Arjun Reddy, which made him a household name.

The actor told Galatta Plus, “I have been blessed with characters early on in my career, that have been remembered far beyond their time. Arjun Reddy with Sandeep being one. I believe the character I play in Family Star is another blessing.”

He added, “It’s nothing like Arjun Reddy; it’s different. Parasuram and me worked in Geetha Govindam. But this fellow (Deverakonda’s character in Family Star) when I heard him, it was a blessing for an actor to get a character that is written from minute 1 to minute 200 or whatever. So many layers, so much to do. He wrote it from his own personal life and experiences and he built a story around certain habits and characterisation he has.”

Vijay Deverakonda has earlier worked with Parasuram in his hit film Geetha Govindam, in which he was paired opposite Rashmika Mandanna.

Deverakonda further shared how he got hooked on to the story of Family Star.

“When he narrated it to me, I clearly saw so many bits of me growing up, when I was a teenager, young adult. It was nostalgic, and hilarious that we all do it. The serious bits I saw of my dad, and I was like this is a great story and character. I know when my producer Dil Raju heard it, he saw bits of his own life. He (Deverakonda’s character in Family Star) is an extreme version of all of us. I am not anything like him. He is an extreme cinematic version that we have seen in real life,” said the actor.
