After winning the Oscar and making the world dance to the tunes of “Naatu Naatu”, the father-son duo V Vijayendra Prasad and SS Rajamouli are set to present another epic tale to their fans. In a recent interaction, Prasad revealed that the script of their next film, which will be along the lines of iconic Hollywood franchise Indiana Jones, will be complete by July. Telugu star Mahesh Babu will play the lead role in the movie.
Like RRR and the Baahubali franchise, Prasad’s upcoming action-adventure flick will also be helmed by SS Rajamouli. During an interaction with Mid-Day, Prasad also shared that the film could turn into a franchise. He said, “It is along the lines of the Indiana Jones series. It will be an adventure-action drama, with lots of emotions, like Raiders of the Lost Ark [1981]. My script should be complete by July, after which I will give it to my son. We hope to make it a franchise, but who knows? We are leaving the climax open-ended, thus exploring the possibility of a sequel.”
In September 2022 at Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), Rajamouli had mentioned that his next film with Mahesh Babu will be a globetrotting action-adventure. He said, “My next film with Mahesh Babu will be a globetrotting actioner. It will be like a James Bond or Indiana Jones film with Indian roots.”
V Vijayendra Prasad first talked about exploring the idea of a jungle adventure in 2021. In a conversation with Pinkvilla, he had said, “It’s too early to talk about it right now, but yes, I am trying to explore the African Forest Adventure space (for Mahesh Babu film). It’s not yet finalized, but I am trying to crack this space at the moment. The timelines of the shoot are not fixed as of now, but the film is happening next.”
Mahesh Babu was last seen in Sarkaru Vaari Paata. The actor is awaiting the release of director Trivikram Srinivas’s Guntur Kaaram. This is Mahesh’s third collaboration with Trivikram.
