After a strong start, actor-politician Pawan Kalyan's latest film, They Call Him OG, has been struggling to maintain momentum at the box office. The film completed seven days in theatres and minted Rs 6.54 crore on Wednesday, bringing its total domestic collection to Rs 161.39 crore. They Call Him OG box office journey and occupancy The Sujeeth directorial began its box office journey with a bang, earning Rs 63.75 crore on the first day of release. However, the film immediately dropped by 71 percent the next day and made Rs 18.45 crore. Over its first weekend, it maintained a similar momentum and minted around Rs 18 crore each on Saturday and Sunday. But the collections dipped sharply during weekdays, with the film earning Rs 7.4 crore on Monday, which marked a 60 percent fall. After minting a similar amount on Tuesday, the film saw another 10 percent decline in collections on Wednesday, earning Rs 6.54 crore. Out of this, the Telugu version contributed the most with Rs 6.14 crore, while the Tamil version minted Rs 3 lakh and the Hindi version earned Rs 37 lakh. While morning shows stood at 13.99%, the numbers improved slightly in the evening and night with occupancy rising to 23.57% and 26.40%, respectively. In Tamil Nadu, however, the occupancy was much lower at just 8.49% overall. On the other hand, the Hindi version performed poorly, recording a disappointing 5.70% occupancy. They Call Him OG vs Kantara With Rishab Shetty's much-awaited film Kantara: A Legend Chapter-1 releasing in theatres on Thursday, Pawan Kalyan’s film is now facing stiff competition. Shetty's film, which is a prequel to his 2022 blockbuster Kantara, has been creating massive buzz not just in Telugu states but also across other regions. Apart from Kantara, Shashank Khaitan’s romantic comedy Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari is also hitting theatres on Thursday, which will further add competition to the Pawan Kalyan starrer in the Hindi market.
