During the pre-release event for Ravi Teja’s upcoming mass entertainer ‘Mass Jathara’, actor Suriya joined the team as part of the promotions. Mass Jathara is a cop drama directed by Bhanu Bhogavarapu. The event held on Tuesday featured the major cast and crew of the film and was graced by fans of both stars. Suriya, who was called onto stage by Ravi Teja, spoke about the deep love his family has for Teja.

Speaking about the film Mass Jathara and his long-standing friendship with the star, Suriya added, “It’s a pleasure to be with our mass maharaja Ravi Teja garu. I go back a long time in my memories. I think it was in 2005, 2006. I go back to memories of almost 20 years ago. Today I speak like a fanboy. I want to share my fanboy moments with him.” Suriya also added how Karthi and his wife Jyothika have even stronger memories with the Telugu superstar, “If Karthi was here, or Jyothika was here, I am sure they would have stronger memories to share about Ravi Teja garu. When I say Ravi Teja garu’s name to anyone in my family, it’s not a smile, it’s laughter. They have lots of things to share about the memories they had together.”

The ‘Retro’ star also cited Ravi Teja’s explosive energy and how Ravi Teja is best when he plays the common man in movies. “I think if the word explosive energy could be personified, it would look like Ravi Teja garu. I am so happy that his fans are still celebrating him like this. I believe that he is best when he is playing a common man on screen and making him king-sized. Nobody else, I think, makes it as real and convincing as possible like him. He has a way of bringing the native culture and native touch to his character and making the common man live king-size onscreen. Been a big fan of his work for a long time.” Suriya was also quick to add what he thought made Ravi Teja stand out as a performer. “For me, laughter is the toughest and greatest art form. He does that with his own ease. He has had his own way of entertaining audiences for decades. It’s not easy to do that repeatedly for so many years.”

The actor continued, “Vikramarkudu is a very important film for my brother Karthi’s film career. So as an elder brother, I am thankful to Ravi Teja garu for his art. Very few people have that skill. I think Rajini sir has that comic timing. Amitabh Bachchan has got it. You being a huge fan of Bachchan sir makes sense. Keep entertaining us.” Adding his anticipation for the film, Suriya added, “I think this October 31 will be ‘Ravi Teja-thra’. It’s going to be his festival. Ravi Teja Garu, you keep reminding us that dreams do come true.”

Mass Jathara also stars Sreeleela, Krishna Kumar and Nitish Nirmal among others. The project was bankrolled by Sithara Entertainments, the production house also behind Suriya’s ongoing film collaboration with ‘Lucky Bhaskar’ fame  director Venky Atluri. Mass Jathara will be making its way to theatres on November 1.
