Recalling his reaction after “Naatu Naatu” was declared Best Original Song, Prem says it was a very emotional moment for the entire RRR team.
Prem was present at the Oscar ceremony, when they announced “Naatu Naatu” as the winner. He tells indianexpress.com, “Rajamouli garu hugged me and I was teary eyed. We all hugged each other and we got really emotional. I got a bit nervous in between when they were announcing nominations. When they announced Naatu Naatu as the winner, we shouted so loudly.”

The Oscar ceremony also included a performance of “Naatu Naatu”, originally choregraphed by Prem Rakshith. The performance received a standing ovation from the audience at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles
“After Naatu Naatu’s performance, they gave a standing ovation. I felt really happy. There was one more song for which they gave a standing ovation…but I was so happy when they all stood up after Naatu Naatu was performed,” Prem shares.

While attending the Oscar ceremony and winning an Oscar was the highlight for Prem Rakshith, he is also immensely happy that ace choreographer Prabhudheva congratulated him on social media. “I am so so happy. Prabhudheva garu wished me. He is the God of dancing and he wished me on Twitter. I am so thankful to him,” says Prem, unable to hide the excitement in his voice.

As he returns to India to resume work, the choreographer says it’s going to be “regular life now”.
“Everything will come in life at the right time. I want to choreograph songs and there is more to achieve in life. I love choreographing and want to thank my family, Rajamouli sir and above all Sai Baba.” But does the global exposure incline him towards working internationally?
“I am very happy working here but if work comes then I will definitely take it,” he says.
As the choreographer gets ready to board the flight from LA back to Hyderabad, he says on a parting note, “I will continue working and give my best to everything that I do.”
Prem’s upcoming projects include Telugu film Dasara, starring Nani, and Pushpa: The Rule, the sequel to Allu Arjun’s blockbuster Pushpa The Rise.
