Kushi box office prediction: Vijay Deverakonda-Samantha Ruth Prabhu movie expected to earn Rs 14 crore on Day 1
Vijay Deverakonda and Samantha Ruth Prabhu are looking forward to the performance of Kushi after their respective box office debacles - Liger and Shaakuntalam.

The previous films of both Vijay Deverakonda and Samantha Ruth Prabhu were unsuccessful at the box office. Vijay’s Liger, which was aggressively promoted across the country, turned out to be a damp squib and garnered criticism. On the other hand, Samantha’s Shaakuntalam turned out to be a colossal failure for the film’s producer Dil Raju, who claimed the movie kind of shook his business. Thus all eyes are on Kushi, which has created a good buzz in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Tamil Nadu.
While the movie has more buzz in the Telugu-speaking states, it has a significant market in Tamil Nadu as well. Besides Samantha’s fandom, Vijay also has a good following in the state as his romantic films Arjun Reddy and Geeta Govindam were successful even in tier-two cities of Tamil Nadu.
Film trade analyst Ramesh Bala predicts that though there will be a ‘soft opening’ for Kushi in Tamil Nadu, it will collect at least Rs 1 crore from Chennai and other Tamil districts. “Across Tamil Nadu, it will open in around 250 theatres. Among all the releases tomorrow, Kushi will be a big film. However, it will only have a soft opening and collect around Rs 1 to 2 crore. Word-of-mouth will only help the film become bigger,” he says.
When asked if the film’s performance will be a deciding factor in the actors’ career, Ramesh says, “I don’t think it will affect their career as both have a good body of work. But it is a crucial film indeed after their respective flops.”
Echoing his opinion, trade analyst Deepak, who is based out of Hyderabad, says, “I don’t think what is an actor’s last film matters anymore. People have changed a lot now. It comes down to the content of the film, the packaging and the overall appeal.”
Kushi will be released in around 750 theatres (approx) across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, according to Deepak. He expects it will mint about Rs 14 to 15 crore (gross) on the opening day. He also shares that the film has already done well in terms of theatrical business, collecting Rs 35 crore.
Looks like the trailer, the songs of Hesham Abdul Wahab, and the chemistry between Vijay Deverakonda and Samantha Ruth Prabhu in the pre-release event have created a good buzz for Kushi. Directed by Shiva Nirvana, the film also has Sachin Khedekar, Saranya Ponvannan, Lakshmi, Murali Sharma, and Vennila Kishore in pivotal roles.
