Dulquer Salmaan says he won’t fight for screen space if he works with Vijay Deverakonda, Kushi actor recalls watching DQ’s films on torrents
Dulquer Salmaan and Vijay Deverakonda showcased their bromance in a recent fun chat ahead of the release of their films King of Kotha and Kushi.

It seems like box office rivalry is a thing of the past. Instead of fighting for screens, actors are promoting each other’s films for a larger reach. Telugu star Vijay Deverakonda and Malayalam star Dulquer Salmaan, whose respective films Kushi and King of Kotha will release just one week apart, got together for a chat where they put their bromance on display as they supported each other.
King of Kotha is a period gangster film in which Dulquer plays a hero of the masses, whereas Vijay’s Kushi is a romantic film in which the actor romances Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s character. This is Vijay’s first film after the debacle of his debut pan-India action film Liger.
In the chat, posted on Sony Music South’s YouTube channel, Vijay said, “If I do a multi-starrer, Dulquer is definitely one I would love to work with.” Dulquer added that if the two of them ever do a film together, there won’t be any competition between them. “I think we will have fun doing it. It won’t be us as stars fighting for screen space. We will just be having fun,” he said.
Vijay, who made his acting debut with 2011 film Nuvvila, recalled watching Dulquer’s films on torrents. He said, “I have been watching his films even before as an actor. I used to watch it on laptops on torrents. It was Malayalam cinema, you need to get it with subtitles and stuff.”
On working in a cross-over film together
Interestingly, the actors also discussed a possibility of their characters crossing over in the future. Vijay asked Dulquer, “Is King of Kotha a sequel-able film?” to which Dulquer said, “Yeah, possible”.
The Arjun Reddy actor then proposed an interesting crossover. He said, “I think it will be fun when the two characters meet.” Dulquer agreed: “From two different worlds? Yeah, that will be fun.” Vijay then revealed that one of his upcoming films also being set against the backdrop of the gangster world, much like King of Kotha.
“Like my film with Gowtham Tinnauri, it is set in a gangster world. I think that’s very exciting. It either has to be a great director that we both love and want to be with or it has two be two characters that have done really well in cinema that we enjoyed and bringing those two characters together into a world. I think that will be fun,” said Vijay.
