Anurag Kashyap shares video of fans in Switzerland screaming ‘Baahubali’ before screening of every film

Director Anurag Kashyap is currently busy taking his latest film Kennedy to various film festivals across the world. He is currently in Switzerland for the Neuchatel International Fantastic Film Festival, and the Ugly director was amused by the love locals have for SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali films. Anurag noticed that before every screening, an audience in the theatre will scream, ‘Baahubali’, which gets echoed by the others. It is followed by the fans as a ritual as Anurag found that happening in almost all the screenings.

The director then recorded the moment, which is now on his Instagram page. Sharing the clips, Anurag wrote, “In Neuchatel at @nifffestival, their all-time favourite film is @ssrajamouli ‘s Bahubali… at every single screening, at all cinemas, before the film during the play of the ads, someone in the crowd always screams Baaaahubaaali and the rest of the crowd follows. The first time I thought it was a one-off and then it happened the second time. After this, I recorded the crowd screaming Bahubali at all screenings I went to. Here are four of those videos. Such is the love for Rajamouli and his film. The head of the festival told me that if he (Rajamouli) actually ever came here, the audience will die of ecstasy. He is a true rock star at genre/fantastic festivals. Here is to you SSR. The four videos (sic).”

Baahubali, starring Prabhas and Rana Daggubati, is a two-part film. Baahubali: The Beginning (2015), went on to set many box office records in India. Later, with Baahubali The Conclusion (2017), Rajamouli broke his own records. The film was well-received across the world including Japan and China. The film tells the story of a rivalry between two cousins over the throne of a fantasy kingdom, Mahishmathi.
