TV needs improvement in writing: Tarun Khanna

He also said that certain actors “who flop on screen” become writers.

“Though we have some writers like Raghuvir Shekhawat, Amit Aryan. But writing is a specialist job. It shouldn’t be like if you did not become a successful actor, so you start working as a writer,” he added.

Tarun also highlighted the need to have writers like Gulzar and Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

“Gulzar sahab also must have thought once to act in a film. Today there are many directors, who have started acting. But very few like Gulzar and Sanjay Leela Bhansali understand their job. The kind of niche they have in writing, today’s writers don’t have. Today’s writers should look into the matter that they have scripted. We need more writers like them,” he added.

Tarun can currently be seen as Shamsher Devgun in new action comedy show “Police Factory”.

Talking about his character, Tarun said: “I’ll be seen in a police uniform. I’m very happy to play a character which is positive. When we play negative characters, they end up being an intense one.”

“Shamsher is not an intense character. But when you see my previous roles like Ravan, Balram or the one in ‘Rangrasiya’, they were all intense characters,” he added.

The actor says he is elated to land this role as it is “better than every role” he has played, apart from Ravan.

“I got a lot of appreciation for playing Ravan. But Shamsher is completely different from that.”

This is the first time Tarun can be seen in a comedy show. However he says he can’t do standup comedy.

“I can’t do comedy like the one in ‘F.I.R.’. I can do situational comedy but we are not trying deliberately to make this one a comedy show. The show has comedy part in it, but apart from that there is also romance and action. There will be clean comedy in our show. Something that a grandfather can see with his grandson,” he said.

Apart from Tarun, the SAB TV show also stars Navin Bawa, Vivana Singh, Sonal Vengurlekar, Paras Arora and Neha Tomar.
