Rohit Roy reveals daughter Kiara was approached for The Archies, but had to say no: ‘She couldn’t give it a thought…’
Actor Rohit Roy explains that his daughter is studying at an Ivy League school and study remains her priority.

Ever since Rohit Roy received a call from Khatron Ke Khiladi 13, his daughter Kiara has been worried. She finally found solace in her father’s confidence and let him travel to shoot for the adventure-based show. However, all her fears came true when Rohit was injured during the task and had to return home. The actor shared that he hadn’t informed her about the same but Kiara got to read about it on social media. “She cried buckets and was angry that she was right about it. In spite of all that, when she heard how I had performed on the show, she was really proud. Now I am waiting for her to see me on screen,” he told indianexpress.com.
Given both Rohit Roy and wife Manasi Joshi Roy are actors, we wondered if their daughter would also tread the same line. He shared that they have no issues with her entering the industry but given she’s in an Ivy College, education remains her priority. However, he added that more than a year back, she was noticed at an event and was even offered The Archies.
“About a year and a half back, I was at a fashion event hosted by Shabana Azmi. There was a great amount of media and paps and of course many stars. Later, Excel called me for The Archies. I told them that she is studying at the Brown University but I will check. I did tell her but she couldn’t give it a thought given the space she is in, where competition is intense. I have told her that once you finish your education and want to give it a thought, we would wholly support you,” Roy shared.
Zoya Akhtar is directing a film based on the popular comic book characters. The Archies will mark the debut of Shah Rukh Khan’s daughter Suhana Khan, Boney Kapoor’s daughter Khushi Kapoor and Amitabh Bachchan’s grandson Agastya Nanda.

Apart from being an actor, Rohit Roy is also a writer and director. So does he plan to launch his daughter, we asked. “I would not,” pat came the reply.
Elaborating on the same, the actor said, “I think it’s one of the biggest mistakes of filmmakers to direct their own kids. It’s the worst thing. I may produce for her but not direct her. The point also remains that she would want to be directed by Karan Johar more than me (laughs). But I will never helm her first film as I would not be able to push the envelope. It would be best if she’s directed by someone who works with her only as a creative collaborator. I think filmmakers should never launch their kids.”
Rohit Roy also shared that he’s working on an action series that will star him alongside elder brother Ronit Roy.
