Yeh Rishta Kya Kehalta Hai producer Rajan Shahi announced on Monday evening that he had sacked two actors from the show, namely, Shehzada Dhami and Pratiksha Honmukhe.  Shehzada, who played the role of Armaan, was terminated from the show on grounds of misbehavior with the crew, while Pratiksha’s ouster happened due to not delivering as expected. The team of Director’s Kut Production issued a statement on the same.

The statement read, “Recent events have prompted Directors Kut Production to take a firm stance against unprofessional behavior displayed by two actors from the TV show Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai – Shehzada Dhami, portraying the character Armaan, and Pratiksha Honmukhe, in the role of Roohi.”

Further, the statement added that Shehzada disregarded work ethics from day one, he constantly threw tantrums and mistreated the crew. While the team tried to address the issue, his behavior continued, disrupting the harmony on sets. Pratiksha on the other hand was terminated because she was not being able to live up to her character’s expectations. The newcomer was being groomed by the production house.

Earlier in an interview with Indianexpress.com Rajan Shahi had opened up about bad work ethics shown by actors on set. He had said, “I have had a lot of controversies with actors, but I feel nobody is above the show, not even the producer. I always appreciate my actors. However, there is a wrong perception that a lot of actors claim they shoot for 18 hours. It does happen sometimes, but not always. Some fans and even actors create a very wrong perception of the producers being bullies but I have always been very blunt about it. I am the only producer who goes overboard in appreciating the talent, but if an actor is misbehaving or troubling me, I will not take the nonsense.”

Further to this, he even shared, “We have big stakes for a show, but when actors or some newcomers come in and suddenly they get success, which is very short-lived today, they suddenly start taking themselves so seriously. They start believing the world does not exist without them. With fresh talent, they end up coming late on a shift… there is no place in Director’s Kut Production for such people. Sometimes I take it because I have a next-day telecast, otherwise, I am the one who asks such an actor to very politely leave my set. I have done that with some leads. A lot of actors are different in front of the camera and behind it. How they behave and talk with the unit, these things matter to me the most. A character can be changed in a second, and I have done that.”

The makers also shared that they would announce the replacements shortly.
