Actor Gurmeet Choudhary, who has worked in television, films, and in streaming shows, spoke about his experiences as a social media influencer. Gurmeet and his wife, Debina Bonnerjee, also post vlogs on their YouTube channel, through which they reached out to a new fanbase. He said in an interview that viewers have reached out to him in person in cities as distant as London and Paris. But along with the praise, Gurmeet and Debina were also criticised for favouring one of their daughters over the other.

He addressed these criticisms in an interview with Siddharth Kannan recently, and admitted that Debina feels terrible when people say this. Gurmeet and Debina have two daughters, Lianna and Divisha, both of whom were born in the same year. Asked about the section of their audience that feels they’re partial to Divisha, Gurmeet said, “Debina certainly feels bad about it. How can people ever imagine that a mother would be partial to one of her kids?”

He continued, “Only fools could even think this way. Debina feels bad about it, but I tell her that these people are jobless, they don’t think before posting on social media, and what they say shouldn’t affect our lives.” Gurmeet said that he has ‘trained’ himself to ignore negative comments online. “Why subject yourself to stuff like that at all?” he asked, adding that he’s happy to read positive comments all the time.

Gurmeet said that his life changed after he became a parent, and that he often feels like his motherly instincts have come to the fore after the birth of his daughters. He said that nothing makes him prouder than feeling supported and loved by his two girls, and they’re slowly gaining a fanbase of their own among their audience on social media.
