‘Gone Girl’ director David Fincher is reportedly set to helm a comedy on TV, tentatively titled ‘Living on Video’, which is based on his own experiences as a music video director.

The half-hour project will air on HBO. The show is set in 1983 Los Angeles and centers on Bobby, a wide-eyed guy who drops out of college and drives to Hollywood with dreams of directing a sci-fi epic, reported Deadline.

“The series revolves around the players of the then-exploding music video industry – directors, record executives and crew members, many of them dabbling in drugs – through the eyes of the newcomer.” It is written by Rich Wilkes and Bob Stevenson based on an idea by Fincher.

HBO has not officially greenlit the pilot.
