Salman Khan slams Gaurav Khanna for his laid back attitude on Bigg Boss 19: ‘Just don’t lie in the house like furniture’

This isn’t the first time Bigg Boss Season 19 host Salman Khan has pulled up actor Gaurav Khanna. In previous weeks too, Gaurav received wake-up calls.

Bigg Boss 19 Weekend Ka Vaar: After skipping the last Weekend Ka Vaar due to work commitments, host Salman Khan returned to Bigg Boss Season 19 on Saturday night. While he gave feedback to everyone, Salman Khan spent considerable time speaking with Anupamaa actor Gaurav Khanna. He pointed out that Gaurav’s gameplay last week had been lackadaisical and asked him what his fans might think of his personality on the show.

This isn’t the first time Salman has pulled up Gaurav. In previous weeks too, the actor received wake-up calls. In the latest episode, Salman reminded him that he is television’s blue-eyed boy and went on to say, “If so many people think you are not doing anything in the game, it’s right. When there are organic issues in the house, you don’t participate in them and stay detached. We have no problem with it, but maybe your fans would think that the makers are cutting your footage. How do we explain to them that Gaurav himself is cutting his footage?”

Salman Khan also asked Gaurav Khanna about the duration of his show’s episodes. When Gaurav replied that each episode runs for 22 minutes, Salman said, “Which means 210 mins a week. Now tell me as a lead actor in that show you have to be seen for 180 minutes compulsory. But here on the weekdays, we have 90-minute episodes, which means 450 minutes a week, and you were only seen for 20 minutes in the entire week. Add 3 to 4 seconds extra for the clapping shots. Gaurav, what was your participation exactly in the last task?”

Clarifying his stance, Gaurav said, “I wanted to go. There are no two ways about it. I will make sure you have no complaints from me, but I thought since Pranit was nominated, he should get a chance.” Salman shot back, “What all characters have you played on TV, Gaurav? I am sure you have done action, comedy, romance, etc. So are you getting intimidated by other contestants? This is a mind game. You have the skill and maturity to deal with issues. So why are you not showing that here?”

He added, “Are you also scared to play on the front foot because you might get injured? We can’t see you active, just sitting on a sofa and making comments, even in the 4th week. You just make passing comments. Your role in the house is like a star cameo. It is prominent on the poster, but in the film, it’s a blink-and-you-miss-it appearance. We don’t want the audience to call us liars because people think you are not the same Gaurav they have seen on screen. How do we explain to them that this is the real Gaurav and not the characters he played? You want your characters to be bigger than the real Gaurav? I hope Endemol and Colors have not made a mistake in perceiving you as that character in your TV shows. They brought you on the show thinking you’d win hearts. That is not happening, so don’t make yourself fall. This Gaurav should rise.”

As a last piece of advice, Salman Khan told Gaurav Khanna, “Every actor should get scared of the word overrated. It’s the last thing you should be called. Just don’t lie in the house like furniture that gets easily forgotten. Gaurav, you are intelligent enough to understand that.”
