Kapil Sharma and his ‘family’ has found a new home. After multiple seasons on Sony TV, Kapil’s show is set to stream as a limited series on Netflix. On Tuesday, Kapil shared a teaser of his new project that also features his regular castmates Archana Puran Singh, Kiku Sharda, Krushna Abhishek and Rajiv Thakur. Recently, Rajiv, who is currently seen on Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 11, spoke about working with Kapil and how he has never been envious of his childhood friend’s success.

The comedian shared that after working in the industry for almost 20 years, this was the first time that the spotlight was on him. “When I did Laughter Challenge, the spotlight was only on the winner. In Comedy Circus, it was divided among so many more talented people. With this show, everyone has a different journey, so everyone has their spotlight. This is why it feels so different and exciting for me to be a part of this show. It just feels amazing,” he told indianexpress.com.

As readers would know, Kapil Sharma and Rajiv Thakur have been friends for years. We wondered if Rajiv has been envious or felt disheartened about not finding the same kind of success as Kapil. With a broad smile, Rajiv replied, “Usko dekh ke nahi aayi kabhi bhi (Never felt that with him). I truly believe every person has their own destiny. When you have to achieve something, you will. As for Kapil, I think he is just so different than any comedian. He has a unique style and can create punches on any topic. He deserves all the success he has got. Kapil’s phrasing is amazing and I always tell him that he has an editing machine in his mind that speaks only what’s required.”

While Rajiv is working on creating a solo standup show, he also discussed his association with The Kapil Sharma Show. The actor said that the platform has the best names from comedy, and just being part of it is a big achievement. “I know many feel that why would someone do an ensemble show but it’s very different here. Honestly, we are childhood friends and yet it took me almost eight years to make a place on that show,” he said.

Talking about Kapil Sharma getting his own show, the comedian said that he was nervous about him given that so many celebrities were supposed to be on the stage. However, he knew that if Kapil manages to strike a conversation, the show will soar high. He said, “The best thing about Kapil is that he gives the same amount of respect to everyone who’s on the show, be it Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan or a new actor. Also, he is so confident while interacting with them. Who apart from him can flirt with Deepika Padukone? Humari toh boli na nikle (We would be dumbfounded). When I saw him, I realised this boy will go very far, and he’s proved it.”

Sharing an important life lesson, Rajiv Thakur said that he deeply believes that when your friends are doing well, you should never get jealous of them. “When they grow, you grow. Your circle becomes bigger and richer. These are the people who will push you to do well also. Agar main usse jealous hota, if I resented Kapil’s success, I too would have never gotten a chance to work with him. That would have curbed my own success too. This is why I believe in being happy when my loved ones do well,” he shared.
