Anupam Mittal reveals 5 of his Shark Tank India investments are earning more than Rs 50 cr each: ‘People made fun of us’
Anupam Mittal said people made fun of the sharks and the founders during the first season of Shark Tank India but now, five of his companies are making over Rs 50 cr annually.

Anupam Mittal, who is one of the investors on Shark Tank India, has been on the show since its first season and as per his recent admission, some of his bets on the show have paid off in a massive way. The show is currently in its fourth season and Anupam said that he is currently invested in five Shark Tank India companies that are all doing more than Rs 50 crore annual revenue run rate. He also added that he “never expected” this from the show.
In a chat shared on Ayush Shukla’s YouTube channel, Anupam shared that when the show started, no one wanted to be a part of it and people were actually making fun of them for participating on the show. “Let me tell you honestly about the first season, without holding my words, no one wanted to come on Shark Tank. People would make fun of us. Nobody wanted to come, not as sharks, not as founders,” he said.
Anupam said that the naysayers retracted as the show became highly successful and it was evident that people’s fortunes were changing after being a part of Shark Tank India. “Earlier, I thought that people who are not funded by VC companies like family entrepreneurs, mom and pop shops, only they will come, and they are still more in number, but now, suddenly, everyone has understood that Shark Tank can change the game. So you see all these top guys lining up to come in and everybody now wants to be a shark,” he said.
Anupam said that he did not have much hope from the show when it started and saw it as “desh sewa”, and not as an opportunity to make money. “Previously, I thought that I won’t make any money on Shark Tank because the best companies won’t come here but I told myself that let’s think of it as ‘desh sewa’ so as long as I break-even, maybe it is worth my time. Now, I have five Shark Tank companies in my portfolio that are doing more than Rs 50 crore annual revenue run rate. I never expected that,” he shared.
Shark Tank India Season 4 is currently streaming on SonyLIV.
