‘What is mine isn’t going to be yours’: When Amitabh Bachchan refused to hand over KBC winning amount to son Abhishek Bachchan

Amitabh Bachchan’s association with the hit quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati began at the turn of the century and has been an important part of his illustrious career. The actor often hosts celebrity guests, including members of his family. However, back in 2017 when Amitabh’s son and actor Abhishek Bachchan appeared on the show, the senior Bachchan was made to sit on the hot seat.

Abhishek Bachchan has appeared on the show a number of times. He was also seen on the special episode with his film Happy New Year co-stars Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone.

But in an old promo for a September 2017 episode of KBC, Amitabh can be seen being introduced as a participant by none other than Abhishek taking the quiz master’s seat. “Mere saamne baithe hai Mumbai se aaye Shri Amitabh Bachchan (Sitting in front of me is Mr Amitabh Bachchan from Mumbai),” said Abhishek as he introduced his father.

He added, “Ye ak abhineta hai, aur Hindi, English sahit, kai bhashaon ki films me acting kar chuke hain. Inhe gaana gane aur kaam karte rehne ka bahut shauk hai (He is an actor, and he has worked in films across different languages. His hobbies include singing and keep working).”

Abhishek then said, referring to himself, “Ye yadi aaj yahan se bhari rakam jeet kar jate hain, toh wo raashi aapne putra ko dena chahte hain (If he wins a huge amount on the show, he will give that amount to his son).

Amitabh then reacted to this, “Kisne kaha hai tumhe (Who said this to you)?” Abhishek replied that you have only taught us, what is mine is also yours.

Amitabh said but today, what is mine, isn’t going to be yours because that’s mine.

Amitabh Bachchan is looking forward to the launch of Kaun Banega Crorepati 15. The show began in 2000 when Bachchan was going through a difficult time after his company ABCL went bankrupt. KBC turned his career around and started a new innings for the actor.
