Amitabh Bachchan cracks up as KBC 16 contestant advises him to try ‘benching’ wife Jaya Bachchan, explains Gen Z dating lingo

When Ritika mentioned “breadcrumbing,” Bachchan asked her, “Breadcrumbing matlab roti khana?” (What is the meaning of breadcrumbing? Is it eating bread?) The host’s innocent question left Ritika and the audience in stitch. Ritika then explained to him, “Sir, breadcrumbing means that the boy gives hints, the girl gives hints, but they don’t commit to being in a relationship.”

Learning what breadcrumbing means, Bachchan’s surprise was palpable. He jokingly asked, “Just want to know, I know I am too old for this. However, if I ever get a chance, what will I say? Hey, will you eat bread?” Listening to Bachchan, the entire audience burst into laughter once again.

Ritika then shared how, “Gen-Z keeps coming up with new terms, and nobody can normally decode it.” However Bachchan requested her to explain other terms, and Ritika obliged. “Ghosting means to ignore,” she said. “For instance if you are my friend, you message me but I am continuously ignoring you. Then comes situationship, we both are in a relationship but we both are publicly not committed towards each other.”

Ritika then tried to explain Bachchan what benching means, mentioning Abhishek Bachchan. She said, “Last one is benching, which means that you and I are sitting on a bench, but there is another boy also sitting there, like Abhishek Bachchan. So, sir, I am talking to you, but my backup plan is Abhishek Bachchan…” Bachchan chuckled and asked if benching applied to both men and women. Ritika confirmed it did, jokingly suggesting that Bachchan could have his wife Jaya on one side and a girlfriend on the other.

Big B humourously asked her what should be his backup plan, to which she advised him to try benching. Listening to Ritika, Bachchan burst into laughter and cracked a hilarious joke. He said, “In that case the bench would be too small,” and chuckled.

As the conversation concluded, Bachchan admitted, “I fail to understand this new generation,” and shared that Ritika’s insightful explanations had left him entertained and enlightened.
