Late model-actor Aditya Singh Rajput‘s mother has called for a stop on speculation around his death. Aditya died after allegedly slipping and falling in his bathroom earlier this week. A postmortem report is awaited, but police said that they are ‘investigating all angles’.
Reacting to rumours that drug abuse might be involved, Aditya’s mother told Hindustan Times, “By putting such unverified claims, they are maligning the name of my son and my family. This is a cruel thing to do.” Indian Express quoted a police officer as saying, “A small injury on the rear left of his head was recorded during the panchnama. There was no bleeding, but there was a visible swelling on that part of the head. We suspect that he sustained a serious internal head injury. Doctors have also found a blockage in his heart. But the exact cause of death is yet to be ascertained as postmortem report is awaited. His viscera has been preserved for further examination.”
The actor reportedly hosted a party at his Oshiwara apartment the night before he died. He woke up the next day feeling under the weather. He told his cook that he was going to throw up in the bathroom, when the cook heard a loud thud and found Aditya unconscious. The postmortem was performed at Siddharth Hospital in Goregaon, after which the body was handed over to his mother, who flew in from Delhi after hearing about Aditya’s death from a friend on Monday evening. The family has not filed a complaint.
Costume designer Rohit Verma spoke to the press after Aditya’s death, and made a similar request to the public. “Lot of people are talking about him that he was overdosed and all. I think that is bulls**t because it can be an accident. So, lets leave this in doctor’s hand, the postmortem reports have not come and I don’t think we have any right to talk like this about anyone and create wrong rumours.”
Aditya has been a part of projects such as Splitsvilla 9, Rajputana, Code Red and Yeh Hai Aashiqui, among others.
