The team of &TV’s hit sitcom, Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hain, celebrated the show’s 8th anniversary and completion of 2000 episodes. The first episode of the show aired on March 2, 2015. While most of the cast members of the show have been replaced, the male leads, Aasif Sheikh and Rohitash Gaud, continue to be a part of it. Recently, Aasif said that the actors who’ve dropped out of the show are “not missed”.

At the celebration event, Aasif interacted with the media. In an interview with ETimes, the actor said that neither the team of the show nor the audience misses the old cast members. The first major actor to exit Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hain was Shilpa Shinde, who became a household name after playing Angoori Bhabhi on the show. She left the show in 2016, alleging that the makers “mentally tortured” her.

In Aasif’s opinion, the content of the show is the real hero, and the audience doesn’t really watch it for any particular actor. He said, “Nobody misses anyone. I am sorry nobody misses people who have left the show. People who have joined in now, the audience loves them and appreciates them. I strongly feel that in Bhabi Ji no artist is indispensable. Our content is so strong that they watch the show for the substance.” The actor also said that even if he leaves the show some day, the audience will still watch it.

After Shilpa, it was Saumya Tandon, who essayed the role of Anita Vibhuti Mishra for five years, who quit the show. At the time, Saumya had said that she wants to explore new opportunities. She was replaced by Neha Pendse, who played the role for a year, before being replaced by actor Vidisha herself.

Aasif also revealed that when Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hain debuted, nobody was confident about it and thought it won’t run beyond six months. He said, “We had never imagined that Bhabi Ji would run for 8 years and would complete 2000 episodes. In fact, when the show started it was the first fiction comedy show on an Indian GEC and everybody thought that this show won’t last for more than 6 months.”

Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hain airs on &TV from Monday to Friday at 10.30 pm.
