Vijay and Lokesh Kanagaraj’s second collaboration Leo is currently the most-awaited Tamil film. Despite the fact that Leo is billed as a pan-Indian film, Vijay initially hesitated to make it a pan-Indian film. Leo producer Lalit Kumar made the revelation at the CII Dakshin South India Media and Entertainment Summit 2023 in Chennai.

During the event, Lalit said, “We didn’t plan Leo as a pan-Indian film. But after the success of Lokesh’s Vikram, I told Vijay, ‘Let’s make a pan-Indian film.’ He said, ‘Adhellam venda pa. Namma makkalukku padam panna podhum (Let’s not do all those things. I want to make films for our people).’ But Lokesh and I convinced him and made changes to the script and decided to make it for the whole country.”

Lalit Kumar also spilled details about the audio launch of Leo and said, “Leo audio launch will not happen in Chennai. It will happen either in Coimbatore or Trichy or Madurai. When we were discussing the audio launch, we initially suggested to Vijay that we will do it in Chennai’s Nehru stadium. Vijay told us, ‘It’s boring to keep doing it there. Please take me outside the city. It’s been a while since I met people out there.’ So, we are planning to do it somewhere other than Chennai.”

When asked if Leo is part of Lokesh Cinematic Universe, Lalit said, “You will know while watching the film. There will be a special announcement if that’s the case. Wait and see.”

Leo, which was tentatively titled Thalapathy 67, will release in theatres on October 19, 2023 in multiple languages. Sanjay Dutt, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Arjun Sarja, Mysskin and Priya Anand among others are also part of the film.
