Vetrimaaran’s Viduthalai Part 2 officially starts shoot; Soori says: ‘Kumaresan ready’
Vetrimaaran's Viduthalai Part 1 is an adaptation of B Jeyamohan's short story Thunaivan and features Soori, Vijay Sethupathi, Bhavani Sre, Gautham Vasudev Menon and Rajiv Menon in pivotal roles.

Vetrimaaran’s Viduthalai Part 1 stands out as one of the most celebrated releases of this year. The period crime thriller is an adaptation of B Jeyamohan’s short story Thunaivan and features a talented cast including Soori, Vijay Sethupathi, Bhavani Sre, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Rajiv Menon, and Ilavarasu.
Following its release and the overwhelmingly positive reception from audiences and critics alike, there has been great anticipation for the sequel. Recently, actor Soori himself has confirmed that the film is currently in progress.
Taking to Twitter to share a video where he can be seen getting a haircut and preparing himself to reprise his role as Constable Kumaresan, Soori wrote, “Kumaresan ready. #ViduthalaiPart2 Shooting In Progress.”
In the 27-second video, as it reaches the middle, a voice can be heard in the background saying, “Kumaresa, sir is calling you.” Upon hearing this, the cop steps out of his house, fully dressed in his uniform and holding a police rifle.

Following the premiere of Viduthalai Part 1, Soori had received much appreciation for his impeccable performance as Constable Kumaresan. Speaking to the media in Chennai recently, National Award-winning filmmaker Vetrimaaran said: “At the time of Asuran itself, I had held talks with Soori and decided to cast him in the lead role in my next film. Though I tried to work on two scripts for this, neither of them turned out the way I wanted. Finally, Viduthalai happened.”
Speaking to The Indian Express, Soori said: “I have been asking Vetrimaaran sir’s assistant Manimaran for a long time to just give me a few scenes in his films, and it need not be a comedy. He once said that Vetri had a role for me and he would call. I didn’t sleep that night hoping for the call, and it never came. I kept bugging Mani, and he finally sent Vetri’s number and said you deal with him on your own.”
Bankrolled by Elred Kumar under the banners of RS Infotainment, the film was scripted jointly by Vetrimaaran and B Jeyamohan. While Velraj handled the cinematography, R Ramar did the editing and its music was composed by Ilaiyaraaja.
