Actor Sindhu of Angadi Theru fame succumbs to cancer

Tamil actor Sindhu, known for playing supporting roles in Tamil films, passed away on Monday after a long battle with breast cancer. She was 44.

Her friend and co-star actor Kottachi took to Facebook to confirm the news.

Sindhu had been battling cancer for years. Earlier, in a video published on a Tamil YouTube channel, the actor pleaded for mercy killing as she was not able to bear the pain.

Sindhu was diagnosed with breast cancer back in 2020, and she released a video on a YouTube channel seeking financial support. Many celebrities like producer Ishari Ganesh, actors Raghava Lawrence and Robo Shankar extended their help, according to Indiagltiz. However, she couldn’t recover from the disease.

Sindhu was widely known as ‘Angadi Theru’ Sindhu as she rose to fame with the role in Vasanthabalan’s tragic drama, Angadi Theru, about labourers in huge textile shops in Chennai. She later acted in Nadodoigal. After the initial recognition, Sindhu failed to get good opportunities in the film industry. She was later seen in small roles in movies and TV serials.

The actor’s last rites will be performed in Virugambakkam crematorium, Chennai on August 7.
