Actor Siddharth, who is gearing up for the release of his next bilingual film Takkar, has never been the one to mince words. Be it matters of national interest, cinema or his personal life, he has always been direct with his answers. While celebrities’ personal lives have always been under scrutiny, Siddharth vehemently believes in guarding his personal space and sharing details on his terms.

Recently, while promoting Takkar, the actor was asked an insensitive question about his dating life and the actor replied by saying that he can indulge in the person’s curiosity privately and his love life is not a matter of public discussion.

In an interview with indianexpress.com, Siddharth shares the reason behind the boundaries that he has drawn around him. The actor, who has been in public life for almost two decades, says he wants to have a dialogue about his work and not love life.

“If I was six months into the business and you were asking me as a person starting to understand the life of a famous person, then this could have been an interesting answer. I have been doing this for half of my life and I have always said the same thing — my job starts and ends with what I do at work, which is acting. Everything else, while the whole universe might think that they have the right to information on, I only talk about things which I feel like talking about,” he says.

The actor, who will also be seen in Kamal Haasan’s Indian 2, adds, “So, I am on social media where I feel like expressing with my family, my cats, or whatever I do it, that’s on me. This generation wants everything at all the time. What do we want? Everything. When do we want it? Now. They want to know everything.”

There have been speculation around Siddharth dating actor Aditi Rao Hydari but neither of them has confirmed the relationship. The actor says he feels no need to satiate everyone’s curiosity about his personal life.

“I want to live my life and without it being the subject of The Truman Show. I am not a reality show character, I just like to live my life just like how I would have lived it 50 years ago, 100 years ago or 150 years. Just because everyone has a mobile phone and camera in their hand doesn’t mean that I want to be part of that,” says Siddharth, whose film Takkar will release in Tamil and Telugu.

However, being a public figure, Siddharth understands that questions around his personal life will always be thrown at him.

“We can’t change it and I am going to be asked this question forever. If it’s not this question, then may be some other question so its always about wanting to know more than the person is willing to tell. Whatever happens in my life, will happen,” says the actor, who is still remembered best by the Hindi audience for his role in Rang De Basanti.

Takkar, directed by Karthik G Krish, will see Siddharth in an all out action avatar, something that he hasn’t tried yet. The actor says that he was mighty impressed by the film’s screenplay, that got him hooked on to the movie.

“When Karthik told me about the script I was firstly blown away by the screenplay because it is new. I am a big 90s cinema guy. So for me Takkar is a proper 90s template, commercial film in terms of what the audience feels. But in terms of its making, structure, love track, all of it is very new age. So it’s a mix of both.”

The actor also points out how his character grows into an action hero, and is not presented as one to the audience.

“The graph of my character, Kunj, doesn’t start with an introduction where he hits 20 people. Through the course of a film, the action hero is born. So this script gave me a chance to see my birth as an action hero in the film, which I found very exciting,” Siddharth concluded.
