Nayanthara recalls when she fell in love with Vignesh Shivan: ‘I looked at him differently, thought he is a cute guy’ Watch
The documentary, Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairytale, will begin streaming on Netflix from November 18, which marks the actor's 40th birthday.

Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan worked together in a professional capacity for the first time in the 2015 film, Naanum Rowdy Dhaan. It was then that the two fell in love with each other, and eventually got married in 2022. Now, they are parents to Uyir and Ulag, who were born in 2022. With Netflix set to release Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairytale, a documentary about the life of the actor, the streamer released a snippet where she talks about the first time she felt a spark with Vignesh Shivan.
“We were filming on the roads of Pondicherry, and I was waiting for my shot. I saw Wikki talking about a scene with Vijay Sethupathi sir. For some strange reason, I looked at him differently that day,” said Nayanthara, adding, “The first thing I thought was that he is a cute guy.”
She went on to talk about noticing the way he was explaining things to the cast and crew, and functioning as a filmmaker. Vignesh Shivan chimed in to say, “After finishing the shoot, she sent a text saying ‘I miss being on sets’. I said, ‘Same here ma’am.’” The candid Vignesh also added that he would be lying if he is not a person who would not check out a good-looking girl and compliment her in his mind. “But I didn’t see Nayan ma’am that way,” asserted the Love Insurance Kompany filmmaker.

“This was the first time I was taking a step forward, and we kind of understood that we can talk, you know, in a different way,” said Nayanthara as the promo faded to black.
Directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon, the documentary will not just feature the marriage of Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan, as it was originally planned. Now, staying true to its title, the documentary is expected to go beyond their fairytale marriage, and talk about the various facets of the actor, including being a daughter, mother, and a friend. The documentary will begin streaming on Netflix from November 18, which marks the actor’s 40th birthday.
