All efforts of Seven Screen Studios, the makers of Leo, to release the film early in the morning have drawn a blank. As the Tamil Nadu government refused permission for early morning shows, the production house approached the Madras High Court. However, Justice Anita Sumanth, on Tuesday, refrained from passing orders regarding the request for 4 am. shows. The court also directed the Tamil Nadu government to reconsider its decision to not allow 7 am shows for the film.

Seven Screen Studios had filed a petition seeking permission for 4 am shows across Tamil Nadu on the opening day of the film, October 19. It also requested permission for 7 am shows on the first six days of the film’s release (from 19 to 24 October). They argued that it is not possible to hold five shows in a day if the government forces theatre owners to screen the first show of the day at 9 am.

Now, the High Court has asked the Tamil Nadu government to reconsider the production house’s request to have the first shows at 7 am. However, the court hasn’t addressed the request for 4 am shows, which rules out the possibility of early morning shows for Leo.

The court has directed the government to hold a discussion at 4 pm on Tuesday with all the key players of the theatre association and arrive at a decision regarding the timing of the first shows. Justice Anita Sumanth also ordered a decision be made on Tuesday, considering the short time window for ticket bookings.

While many theatres have opened bookings for 9 am shows of Leo in Tamil Nadu, a significant number of theatres are yet to open bookings. The last-minute delay has severely hit the smooth film-going experience of the fans, who are still in limbo.

Meanwhile, the Pondicherry government has allowed 7 am shows for Leo. The film is also releasing early in the morning in the neighbouring states of Kerala and Karnataka.
