Keerthy Suresh wishes Varun Dhawan would’ve told her that actors wanted to date her, reflects on keeping her relationship a secret

Varun Dhawan recently said that he had to protect Keerthy Suresh from prying male actors who were interested in getting her number, not knowing that she was in a relationship.

Keerthy Suresh opened up about keeping her relationship a secret.

Actor Keerthy Suresh, who recently made her Hindi film debut with Baby John, spoke about her marriage with Antony Thattil, and how they kept their relationship a secret for 15 years. Keerthy and Antony began dating when she was in college, and were in a long-distance relationship for half-a-decade before things became serious. In an interview, she also reacted to her Baby John co-star Varun Dhawan saying in an interview that several male actors reached out to him for her number, but he didn’t give it to them because he knew that she wasn’t single.

In an interview with Galatta India, Keerthy said that she had no idea that Varun had said this. “I wish he had told me,” she said with a look of surprise. “I’m hearing this for the first time. He never told me! I would’ve felt good about people asking for my number. But he knew (I wasn’t single) that’s why he didn’t give them.” In an interview with Filmfare Middle East recently, Varun had said, “In Mumbai, when we were shooting… so many people would message me about her, so many heroes. I can’t be like, ‘Here’s her number, let’s meet,’ because eventually, it’s my responsibility to take care of her.”

Asked about how she and Antony kept their relationship a secret for so many years, Keerthy said, “Nobody knew. Only very close friends knew. And even in the industry, Samantha knew… Jagadish has been a part of our journey from the beginning. Atlee and Priya knew, Vijay sir knew… We’re both very good at keeping secrets. In fact, we’ve been planning this wedding since April 2022. I thought it would come out way earlier. We both like our privacy, and Thattil is media shy. We just can’t do any PDA, so we don’t walk around holding hands. That’s how it’s been all these years.”

Keerthy Suresh has been in a relationship with businessman Antony Tatthil since the age of 17.

Keerthy said that to avoid speculation, they would only travel only as a part of larger groups. They went on a trip abroad as a couple for the first time only two years ago. Keerthy said that she is very proud of herself for keeping the relationship under wraps for so long.

Directed by Kalees, Baby John has emerged as a major critical and commercial disappointment. The film hasn’t yet cracked the Rs 50 crore mark worldwide, and comes with a budget that has been reported to be as high as Rs 160 crore. Keerthy is perhaps best known for her starring role in the biopic Mahanati, directed by Nag Ashwin.
