X user @realNiveD shared Kaantha Movie Review that read, "#kaantha opened with great visuals of old Madras & solid DQ entry as TKM. 1st half was slow with an ego clash & a predictable genre shift interval. 2nd half improved with Rana’s entry & climax had one of DQ’s best performance."
A fan shared via X, "Kaantha : Dulquer Salmaan delivers a powerful, controlled performance, carrying the film with his screen presence and intensity. Samuthirakani strong performance. #bhagyashriborse looks fresh and performs well in her portions. Music lift both emotional and intense moments. Rich visuals throughout, but the second half drops in pace. Rana’s investigation scenes feel dull and a bit boring. Some emotional scenes feel stretched & Climax feels a bit long despite its impact. Over-all, A solid drama-thriller driven by @dulQuer’s standout performance."
A fan shared Kaantha Movie Review via X and wrote, "#kaantha “BEST FILM IN RECENT TIMES” #dulquersalmaan Performance is bomb. He Really National Award for his Stunning Performance in #kaantha."
A fan @vishnu_554 shared Kaantha Review via X, that read, "#kaantha A slow pace first half followed by the clash of male egos and an intriguing second half that shifts into an investigative thriller. Peak performance of Dulquer Salmaan unleashed by Selvamani Selvaraj. Bhagyashree Borse and Samuthirakani was terrific. @RanaDaggubati totally nailed his role. @jakes_bejoy enhanced the whole mood of the movie with his remarkable BGM and Jhanu Chanthar's soothing songs. @dancinemaniac has beautifully captured every frame. Kudos to @DQsWayfarerFilm & @SpiritMediaIN for bringing us an art film. NB : It's not a commercial entertainer!"
A Cinephile @ihsan21792 posted Kaantha Movie Review on X that read, "#kaantha starts off as a slow burn period drama and gradually shifts into an investigation narrative. It leans more towards an art film than a typical commercial entertainer. The performances, especially Dulquer Salmaan’s, are exceptional and truly deserving of praise, though a tighter runtime would have helped. More than the story itself, it’s the performances that leave a mark. The film feels better suited for award film festival audiences than for mainstream commercial viewing, at times coming across like a vanity project produced by Dulquer to highlight his acting range rather than deliver a conventional commercial film."
A page @VRFridayMatinee posted Dulquer Salmaan's Kaantha review, "Kaantha A performance-driven period crime drama that is well executed. The performances are the major highlights of the film, with #dulquersalmaan, #bhagyashriborse, and #samuthirakani excelling. Its emotional elements work well, while the second half focuses more on the crime aspect, and the climax came out good. The art department and DOP are top-class.Very good."
@Thyview posted on X, "#kaantha begins on a promising note, led by impressive performances that immediately draw attention. Bhagyashree Borse delivers a standout act, bringing emotional depth to her character, while Dulquer Salmaan showcases strong control over dramatic moments. Rana’s late entry adds weight and helps the second half gain momentum. The film is built on an engaging idea, blending the world of filmmaking with a crime-driven narrative. The first half sets up its characters through a non-linear structure that works in parts. Although the pacing is steady, it rarely builds decisive tension. The interval twist, however, lands effectively and raises expectations. The second half shifts gears into thriller territory, but the screenplay struggles to maintain clarity and emotional impact. Key revelations feel underdeveloped, and the aftermath of major events does not resonate as strongly as it should. Still, strong visuals, effective music, and detailed production design keep the film watchable. Kaantha shines through its cast but falls short of becoming a compelling whole. Viewers who appreciate performance-driven dramas may still find value, though the execution remains uneven. Final Word: Strong performances held back by uneven writing and pacing."

@Sambaboy10J posted Kaantha Movie Review on X that reads, "DQ nailed the role with such ease. He’s really improved as an actor, and I mean it. He’s not at his peak yet, but he can do wonders, and he will. And before thanking Selvamani Selvaraj, a big thanks to Nag Ashwin for casting DQ in Mahanati that role paved the way for #kaantha."
X user @WhatTheFuss posted, "#kaantha Strong performances drive the first half. #dulquersalmaan & #bhagyashriborse are outstanding with their impactful and dramatic expressions while #samuthirakani also aces his role. The docudrama style of execution steadily develops the intense moments and finally leads to genre shifting intermission episode."
South India International Movie Awards aka SIIMA posted on its X account, "Director Selvamani Selvaraj’s Kaantha is a meticulously crafted period drama that transports viewers straight into the vibrant world of 1950s Madras. Backed by the unwavering vision of Spirit Production House, the film stands out for its rich atmosphere, authentic period detailing, and impressive production values. From its detailed recreation of Madras’ studio era to its masterful control over mood and tone, Kaantha exudes cinematic sophistication. Selvamani blends emotional intensity with stylistic flair, delivering a work that feels both classic and modern, while exploring themes of ego, ambition, and the intricate dynamics that shape artistic relationships with remarkable visual authenticity. At the heart of Kaantha are its exceptional performances. Dulquer Salmaan delivers one of the finest roles of his career, showcasing extraordinary emotional range, while Samuthirakani brings a powerful, commanding presence that mirrors him perfectly. Bhagyashri Borse adds depth and nuance, and Rana Daggubati’s effortless charm offers balance to the ensemble. The technical departments also shine Antony’s tight editing and Jakes Bejoy’s evocative score elevate the film’s emotional and atmospheric impact, while the overall production values reflect Spirit Production House’s commitment to quality. Despite minor pacing issues, Kaantha emerges as a bold, beautifully mounted, and artistically confident film that leaves a lasting impression."
A fan @cineobserver shared via X, "#kaantha is a film that will be remembered for the performance of one man - @dulQuer. What a mind-blowing performance! @BhagyashriBose comes up with a fine performance herself but unfortunately it is dulled into the shadows by the brilliance of #dulquersalmaan's performance. The film has a gripping first half but a bland and over exaggerated, over stretched second half. As a result, it fails to retain your interest until the very end. My verdict: Three well-earned stars out of five."
Actor Vikram Prabhu posted about Kaantha on X, "#kaantha For the Love of Cinema! X page @CKReview1 posted Kaantha Movie Review that read, "#kaantha (Tamil|2025) - THEATRE. DQ Superb Perf: Mirror Scene, Climax, Tap Dance. Samuthirakani 1 of d best Perf. Bhagyasri ok. Rana is misfit. Making & Music Gud. Interesting 1st Hlf Drama. Once d Genre shifts to Investgtn mode in 2nd Hlf, it becomes Patience Tester. AVERAGE!"
X user @AVinthehousee shared his Kaantha Movie review, "#kaantha Career-best performance by @dulQuer in Kaantha especially the single-take climax portion, the pre-climax scene inside the mirror room, the 4-mark scene in front of his crew members, and a lot more. The first half of the film is filled with the ego clash between #dq and @thondankani, whereas the 2nd half goes as a mystery investigative thriller with some predictable scenes. Both #dulquersalmaan & #samuthirakani acted so well with ease. The interval block was interesting, leading to the second half. @BhagyashriBose delivers her career-best performance in this movie compared to her earlier Kingdom and Mr. Bachchan. #jakesbejoy’s music was neat & helped a lot with the background score, but the songs were average and mid. @RanaDaggubati’s extended cameo was good but not the best, & the humour scenes worked here and there. The writer & director were so keen to manipulate the audience with many genre shifts within the story. Excellent DOP, mediocre editing, & great set work. Despite reports linking it to the life of M. K. Thyagaraja Bhagavathar, the film is fictional, a creation that borrows perhaps a detail or two but otherwise invents its own disaster. You keep waiting for the film to twist harder, but it mostly delivers what you’ve already suspected."
A fan @vishnu_554 posted on X, "Finally the big day is here! A @dulQuer movie is releasing after 1 year and 14 days. As a fanboy of #dulquersalmaan hoarding your flexes and banners, it's a joyful moment to celebrate and cheer for you on the big screen. Wishing #kaantha a tremendous success at the box office!"
A latest review of Dulquer Salmaan's film Kaantha read on X, "#kaantha - An Acting Masterclass!!! And, technical brilliance was on display in every frame."
Trade analyst and writer Sreedhar Pillai shared his Kaantha Review and called the Dulquer Salmaan and Rana Daggubati-starrer, "Brilliant". His review read, "A captivating, drama-driven narrative from director Selvamani Selvaraj powered by ego, ambition & betrayal that play out along with powerful performances from its lead actors. A period drama set in 1950’s Madras tinsel town ( there is a shot of LIC building on Mount Road under construction) , when big studios ruled. First half is the deadly ego clash between a veteran director Ayya (Samuthirakani) taking on the superstar KT Mahadevan (DQ) ‘Nadippin Chakravarthy’ whom he discovered & mentored. Second half is pure Hitchcockian style murder mystery- who pulled the trigger? The way director has seamlessly blended both the parts together is what keeps you hooked till the end. What a solid performance by Dulquer Salmaan, his best till date, you can see the emotions of the character he plays in the breakdown ‘mirror scene’. And Samuthirakani as the ego driven maniac is perfect foil to DQ. Bhagyashri Borse is riveting and does a neat job as the girl torn between her loyalty to Ayya and her love for KTM. For Rana it is a cakewalk as comical investigation officer. Antony’s editing and Jakes Bejoy bgm enhance the production. Yes it has pacing issues but is definitely one of the best films of the year, and is sure to sweep the awards."
Actor Sundeep Kishan sends best wishes Dulquer Salmaan’s film Kaantha and shared via X, "Been Loving everything about this film from the word go .. the passion with which I have seen @RanaDaggubati own this film has been plain inspiring..Along with the Incredible @dulQuer..Looking forward to the Cinematic experience ♥️#selvamaniselvaraj @BhagyashriBose #kaantha."
First reviews of Kaantha are praising Bhagyashri Borse's stunning performance. "Bhagyashri Borse — A Stunning Debut & Comeback — #kaantha is actually the first film Bhagyashri Borse signed but due to multiple delays, the shoot kept getting postponed until it was finally completed — Her performance in this movie is absolutely brilliant — she looks beautiful and expressive throughout — Every scene she appears in is captivating and perfectly delivered — It’s surprising why she chose films like #mrbachchan and #kingdom earlier — But this movie will surely be a huge comeback for her — a career-defining performance — Truly, she has aced every frame she appears in!," read a review.
@Trendswoodcom shared Kaantha Movie Review via X that read, "#kaantha - 3.75/5 A Well Written & Well Executed Period Crime Investigation Drama. Terrific Performance By DQ... Heard Many Claps From The Audience For His Acting. Very Impressive Performances By Bhagyashri, Samuthirakani & Rana As Well. BGM & Songs Are Superb. 1st Half & 2nd Half Follow Different Genres... 2nd Half Filled With An Engaging Investigation Angle. Film Keeps You Hooked Throughout, Though The Length Is The Only Drawback. Kaantha Offers A Distinctly Different Theatrical Experience. Technically It’s Brilliant Movie, So Watch It On A Good Screen. Another Worthy & Satisfying Watch From DQ."
