Superstar Rajinikanth’s Tamil action-entertainer film Jailer got the registers ringing at the box office upon its release on August 10. Now after 23 days, the film finally seems to be slowing down at the box office. According to the trade website Sacnilk, Jailer collected Rs 1.60 crore (all languages) on Friday, bringing its nett domestic collection to Rs 329.83 crore.

The film has dominated the Tamil territories from the day of release and got a decent collection from other language markets as well. A shift in the viewing trends was observed on Friday with the night shows bringing in 33.08 percent occupancy instead of the so-far regular evening shows. Chennai continues to bring in the maximum traffic to theatres with 29 percent occupancy, followed by Bengaluru and Madurai.

It is important to note that this week might be the last smooth run for the Rajinikanth starrer in theatres with Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan releasing on September 7. Jawan is releasing in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu and the film’s advance bookings are now open in India. The film is directed by Atlee and also stars Vijay Sethupathi and Nayanthara.

The love for Jailer has been pouring in since the day of its release. On Thursday, Kalanithi Maran, the chairman and founder of the Sun Group, met Rajinikanth to mark the historic success of the film. Maran presented a cheque to Rajinikanth and offered him a choice of two cars as a gift. Rajinikanth picked BMW X7 from the options.

Jailer tells the story of a Muthuvel Pandian , an ex-jailer, who returns to take revenge for the death of his son. The film also stars Ramya Krishnan, Vinayakan and Yogi Babu in pivotal roles.
