Good Bad Ugly announces April release date; Ajith film to clash with Dhanush’s Idli Kadai

Adhik Ravichandran-Ajith's Good Bad Ugly will slug it out against Dhanush's Idli Kadai on April 10, marking the first-ever clash of these two superstars in over 20 years.

Good Bad Ugly and Idli KadaiAjith Kumar's Good Bad Ugly and Dhanush's Idli Kadai will clash at the box-office this April.

While the disappointment of Vidaamuyarchi missing the lucrative Pongal window is still in the air, there was respite for fans of Ajith Kumar as the makers of his next, Good Bad Ugly, fixed another festive window for its release. Mythri Movie Makers, who are basking in the success of Pushpa 2: The Rule, are making their way into Tamil cinema with Adhik Ravichandran’s Good Bad Ugly. They have fixed the release date as April 10 to cash in on the Tamil New Year release window.

Interestingly, this is also the release date announced by Dhanush for his fourth directorial film, Idli Kadai, which stars him in the lead. Incidentally, the last time a Dhanush film and an Ajith film were released on the same day, it was 2004. Dhanush’s Dreams and Ajith’s Attagasam hit the screens for Deepavali of that year.

Nevertheless, the Tamil New Year release window is the next big schedule after Pongal, and it is but expected that biggies would clash on the same day.

Meanwhile, the shooting of Good Bad Ugly has been completed, and the post production of the film is currently underway. The film features Trisha, Arjun Das, Sunil, Yogi Babu, and Prasanna in pivotal roles. With music by Devi Sri Prasad, Good Bad Ugly has been shot by Abhinandhan Ramanujam and edited by Vijay Velukutty.

With the release date of Good Bad Ugly being confirmed, all eyes are back on Lyca Productions and Magizh Thirumeni’s Vidaamuyarchi. For now, there are a few dates floating around, but the makers haven’t announced anything concrete on this front. This has left a very sour aftertaste in the mouths of Ajith fans and the Tamil cinema stakeholders, who would have expected a big-ticket film like Vidaamuyarchi to kickstart the year with a bang.
