After directing filmmaker Selvaraghavan in Saani Kayidham, Arun Matheshwaran helmed his younger brother Dhanush in the upcoming film Captain Miller. While Selva is regarded as the genius in the industry, Arun called Dhanush as the sharpest mind he has seen in the film industry. While talking to Tamil magazine Anandha Viktan, the director recalled an incident to explain Dhanush’s awareness.
When asked about the experience of working with Dhanush in Captain Miller, Arun said, “I went to him because I like his acting. In this film, we won’t be seeing the Dhanush we saw in Thiruchitrambalam. That’s his plus point, according to me. He is also a good writer and a director. As far as I have seen, in the industry, he has the sharpest mind.”
He added, “Even we missed that a cloud was passing and there will be a light variation in the shot and we have to edit it later. But he pointed it out amidst all the frenzy. He is very sharp.”
Matheshwaran said that since Dhanush and he were of the same age they were able to gel well on the sets. “We won’t have a lot of free time, but whenever we do, we talk about Goundamani sir comedy… our favourite. Then we will talk about Ilaiyaraaja sir.”
Captain Miller, initially slated to be released on December 15, is now postponed to a better date. The film will be released on Pongal 2023 (January 15). Also starring Priyanka Mohan, Shivarajkumar, Sandeppe Kishan, and Elango Kumaravel, Captain Miller has music by GV Prakash.
