Amaran box office collection Day 4: There is no doubt that Amaran was the big-ticket release this Diwali. It had the backing of Kamal Haasan’s Raaj Kamal Films International. It was the biopic of the late Major Mukund Varadarajan. It featured Sai Pallavi and Sivakarthikeyan in lead roles, and had the right kind of hype required for this genre of films. What came as a pleasant surprise was the audience embracing the film and celebrating it for what it was. Amaran lived up to the label of big-ticket release, and exceeded expectations by becoming the third Sivakarthikeyan film to reach the Rs 100 crore club globally, and did it in under a record 3 days time as opposed to his previous entries, Doctor and Don.
The Amaran box-office juggernaut continues to roll as the film made an impressive Rs 21.75 crore on Day 4, which is almost the same number it made on opening day and Day 3. This consistency is commendable considering the kind of competition Amaran faced from films like Jayam Ravi’s Brother, Kavin’s Bloody Beggar, and marquee Hindi projects like Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 and Singham Again. After an impressive Rs Rs 21.4 crore on Day 1 and Day 3, and a slight dip on Day 2 with Rs 19.15 crore, the film’s domestic collection stands at Rs 83.45 crore after its four-day opening weekend.
Interestingly, according to Comscore, Amaran opened at the 7th position globally, and is below Singham Again and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, which are at 3rd and 4th, respectively. This easily ranks as the biggest success in Sivakarthikeyan’s career, and trade pundits are positioning him as a tier-1 star as he joins an elite group of Tamil stars who managed to gross Rs 100 crore globally within three days of the film’s release. The list includes actors like Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Vijay, and Ajith Kumar.
Another impressive facet about this run of Amaran is the performance of the Telugu version, which has contributed almost 17 percent of its collections. With 84.61 % occupancy on Day 4 in important centres for its Tamil version, and a 76.34 % occupancy for the Telugu version is testament to the popularity of the people involved in the film, including Sai Pallavi, Kamal Haasan and Sivakarthikeyan.
