Ajith Kumar says he won’t be signing films during racing season, says will start shoot during break: ‘Don’t need to be told what to do’
Actor Ajith Kumar revealed that he will not be signing any films until the racing season is on.

After his film Vidaamuyarchi got postponed, he talked about his plans for career plans for 2025 at a recent racing event. The actor is all set for his upcoming 24 hour race on January 11, known as the 24H Dubai 2025. In an interview at the 24H Dubai 2025 recently, he opened up about balancing his acting and racing career, revealing he won’t be signing any films until the racing season is on.
When asked is his film contracts command him to not race since he is the lead star, Ajith replied, “No. I don’t need to be told what to do, what not to do. For now, as I plan to pursue Motorsports, not just as a driver, as a team owner as well. Until the racing season is on, I wouldn’t be signing films. And probably between October until March, before the racing season commences, I will probably do films. I will act in films so that no one is worried and I can be on full throttle when I race.”

During the conversation, he also shared how he got into racing. “I was 18 when I started racing motorcycles back home in India. And then I got busy with work. But I did race motorcycles until I was 20-21 and then pursued it till 1993. Then I got into the film industry, and in 2002, I was 32 years old when I decided to get back to motor racing. But not in motorcycles, in 4-wheelers.”

For the unknown, the Vidaamuyarchi actor is also the owner of Ajith Kumar Racing. His team will be participating in the Porsche 992 class along with his teammates Mathieu Detry, Fabian Duffieux and Cameron McLeod. The certified race car driver recently met with an accident during a practice session in Dubai. Several videos of his accident were doing rounds on social media. However, to everyone’s relief, he stepped out of the vehicle unharmed.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Ajith Kumar’s upcoming film Good Bad Ugly has got a release date. Directed by Adhik Ravichandran, it is scheduled to hit the big screen on April 10 clashing with Dhanush’s Idly Kadai. The film also features Trisha, Arjun Das, and Prasanna, among others. Vidaamuyarchi is yet to get a release date, but it is expected that the film will release shortly.
