Union Minister Sharad Pawar releases first look of Yashwantrao Chavan

The film is based on the life of the leader in the Central cabinet

Remembered as the legendary iron man of Maharashtra at the Centre, Yashwantrao Chavan was one of the politicians from Maharashtra who was invited by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru to Delhi to become part of the Central cabinet. He later rose to the highest rank in the Central cabinet.
A film on the leader and his contribution to the country is being made in Marathi by the Yashwantrao Chavan Pratishthan under the chairmanship of Union Minister and NCP chief Sharad Pawar in association with the Mahararashtra Government. The biopic is titled Yashwantrao Chavan – A Chronicle Of Storm. Essel Vision Productions has taken the responsibility of distributing this film in 250 theatres across Maharashtra on March 14. Recently, the first look of the film was unveiled by Sharad Pawar in the presence of his daughter Supriya Sule, veteran writer, journalist and the script writer of the film Arun Sadhu, director Jabbar Patel, composer Anand Modak, artistes, singers and crew members of the film.
Actor Ashok Lokhande essays the role of the leader while Om Bhutkar plays the young Chavan. Hindi theatre artiste Lubna Salim plays the role of Yashwantrao’s wife Venutai, while his mother’s role is being played by Meena Naik. Supriya Vinod, who was last seen in Ratnakar Matkari’s Investment, will be seen as Indira Gandhi, while Benjamin Gilani dons the role of Jawaharlal Nehru. Others in the cast are Nana Patekar, Satish Alekar, Rahul Solapurkar, Yashpal Sarnath and Vaishali Dabhade. Lavani by Bhargavi Chirmule has been choreographed by veteran Leela Gandhi.

 

Vishakha Singh’s Vaalib Raja ready for release

After Hindi films like Bajatey Raho and Fukrey and Tamil film Kanna Laddu Thinna Asaiya, Vishakha Singh is all set to appear in another South film.Vaalib Raja has her starring along side Santhanam and Sethu. Directed by Sai Gokul Ramanath, this laugh riot is set to release soon. She will also be seen in Rowdy Fellow, a Telugu film.

 

A Marathi film by international film-maker Srihari Sathe

After making his presence felt on the international circuit, Mumbai-born producer Shrihari Sathe is making a Marathi film titled Ek Hazarachi Note. This is also Sathe’s directorial debut and is set to be released soon. Sathe has achieved fame in America and a number of other countries for his short films like Breaking the Chain, It Felt like Love, Pervertigo, Man with Van and others.

 

Kamal Haasan in Uthama Villain

The first look poster of Kamal Haasan’s next titled Uthama Villain was revealed recently. A Thirrupathi Brothers Films Media Pvt Ltd and Raajkamal Films International, the film has the actor wearing a colourful mask, the make-up for which takes him five hours to apply. The film is about an ageing superstar, played by Kamal Haasan. Directed by Ramesh Aravind, it went on floors on March 3 in Bangalore.

 

Siddharth, Prithviraj in Kaaviya Thalaivan

The first look of the Siddharth and Prithviraj-starrer Kaaviya Thalaivan was unveiled recently. Based on the life of theater artistes in the early part of the 20th century and directed by Vasantha Balan, the film, produced by YNOT Studios in association with Radiance Media, has make-up by Pattanam Rasheed. The film will be simultaneously released in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam languages and is being readied for a summer release.
