The content on the Hindi general entertainment has been under constant scrutinisation, however, there are shows which continue to entertain the TV audience, making them stick to their TV sets.
This time around it is Zee TV’s prime time show, Kumkum Bhagya, that has seen a distinct spike in viewership ever since its protagonists — Pragya and Abhi — have tied the knot. While the show was already grabbing eyeballs, it has further raced up the popularity charts by clocking in 7405 TVTs in the week 30 of the TAM TV ratings.
According to the channel, while a four-week average for the pre-wedding period (starting week 21, 2014 to week 24, 2014) stood at 3263 TVTs, the show has seen a 127 per cent increase in viewership in the last six weeks.
“With its gripping narrative, Kumkum Bhagya has strengthened our position in the 9 pm slot and our performance in weekday prime time has grown by 30 per cent within barely six weeks,” says Pradeep Hemjadi, Business Head, Zee TV, who has high hopes with the channel’s new offering Jamai Raja that went on air on August 4.
