Writer-director duo Shantanu and Sheershak who have written Table No 21 and Aa Dekhen Zara and written and directed 3 G, are presently shooting for their next Guddu Ki Gun in Kolkata. Several action and other scenes as well as the title track have already been canned for the film that took off on May 13 in the city. Shantanu, who was shooting some action scenes in various locations in the city, told us over the phone that it was very interesting to shoot the title track of the film with Kunal Khemu.
The song was shot in four locations in New Market, in front of the Victoria Terminus, Howrah Bridge and Writers’ Building.
“When we had to shoot in New Market which is a primary hub of Kolkata, I was a little apprehensive. But I was told that being a Sunday, there would be a minimal crowd. However, when we started shooting, about 3000-4000 people landed up and there was total chaos! This got me thinking and I asked the junior artistes who were called for the shooting to pack up and decided to use the crowd for the scene! They shot with us the entire day and when we were packing up, they clapped for us,” said Shantanu.
This part of the song was shot with a body rig on Kunal’s body. A rig is a contraction on which the camera is mounted and captures the actor’s perspective. “It is a very interesting way to shoot. It’s as if you are seeing the picture from the actor’s point of view,” explained the director.
The female leads will be played by Aparna Sharma and Bengali actress Payal Sarkar who makes her debut with the film.
Guddu Ki Gun, which has Khemu playing a washing powder salesman, is 60 per cent complete. The film will wrap up its shoot by June end.
Cakes ‘n’ us
A song titled Happy birthday in Kill Dil was filmed with 600 real cakes.Ranveer Singh, Parineeti Chopra and Ali Zafar had a great time shooting the track which, besides a huge crowd, had 600 delicious cakes. Earlier the entire crew had run helter skelter in Pune, Mumbai and Navi Mumbai arranging for these cakes. And sure enough a mouth-watering aroma filled the air!
Lone ranger
Soha Ali Khan looks striking as the NRI who fights for the rights of children exploited in crime in her upcoming film Chaarfutiya Chhokare. The film is about children who are exploited by local goons. Whether she will be able to change the system or succumb to the murky web of crime and child abuse is the crux of the story. Produced by Sunill Khosla and Vibha Dutta Khosla, Chaarfutiya Chhokare releases on August 1.
Directed by debutant Manish Harishankar (once chief associate of Rajkumar Santoshi) and presented by Wave Cinemas Ponty Chadha, the film also stars Seema Biswas, Zakir Hussain, Mukesh Tiwari, child actor Harsh Mayar and others.
