Kantara Chapter 1 Box Office Collection Day 16: The craze surrounding the Rishab Shetty’s Kantara is starting to slow down after it has been in the theatres for 16 days. While the film’s domestic collection currently stands at Rs 493.75 crore, the day to day numbers are showing signs of decline. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film made Rs 8.5 crore on day 16 of its theatrical run, which is the lowest for its run so far, but still higher than many films’ opening day collections.

Kantara Chapter 1’s worldwide collection currently stands at Rs 725 crore, which is more than Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2 (Rs 686 cr), Salman Khan’s Sultan (Rs 627 crore), Ranbir Kapoor’s Sanju (Rs 588 crore) and the second biggest Hindi blockbuster of the year, Saiyaara (Rs 570 cr). With the festive season around the corner, the film’s collection is bound to grow more. However, Kantara Chapter 1 is still behind behemoths like Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal (Rs 915 cr), Laxman Utekar’s Chhaava (Rs 807 cr) and Atlee’s Jawan (Rs 1160 crore). The nearest competitor that Kantara will be able to cross off its list will be the Aamir Khan starrer PK, which made Rs 792 crore worldwide.

The occupancy rates are also taking a hit as the numbers in Kannada theatres averaged out at 23.51%. The occupancy in Telugu was 17.06%, Hindi was as low as 9.13%, and Tamil was 28.09%. The film still has 5756 shows all over the country, with Hindi leading with 3917 shows, and Kannada with 1099 shows.

Directed, written and produced by Rishab Shetty, the film’s release was highly anticipated, especially after the success of the first movie. The sequel, which reportedly had a much bigger budget than its predecessor, has now earned a more than decent amount of money at the box office, despite all the controversies that surrounded its making.

Apart from Rishab Shetty, the cast of the film also includes Jayaram, Rukmini Vasanth, Gulshan Devaiah. Rakesh Poojari, Pramod Shetty, and Bala Rajwadi.
