Amritsar to Saharsa Garib Rath Express: A fire was detected in a coach of train number 12204 Amritsar–Saharsa Garib Rath Express on Saturday morning. No casualties have been reported so far. The incident occurred at Sirhind Station in Punjab, which comes under the jurisdiction of the Northern Railway zone. The train departed safely for its destination at around 10:39 hrs, the railways said.

According to railway officials, the fire was noticed around 07:30 hrs today. Railway authorities promptly took action, shifting passengers to other coaches and quickly extinguishing the fire.

“As soon as incident was noticed, swinging into action, Railway authorities shifted the passengers immediately to the other coaches and the fire was also extinguished quickly. The train will depart to its destination shortly. No casualties. Time of incident 7.30am,” the national transporter said in a statement.

It further stated that one passenger suffered a minor injury and is currently receiving treatment at a hospital. “All concerned officials are present at the spot. An inquiry into the incident has been ordered,” the railways said.
