Rishab Shetty’s Kantara Chapter 1 continues its glorious box office run as it enters its fourth week in theatres, breaking several records along the way. The film has been running uninterrupted and came very close to crossing the Rs 600 crore mark in domestic collections. However, due to a slowdown in the fourth week, it missed the milestone by just Rs 1 crore. On Wednesday, the film’s collection dropped slightly, minting Rs 2.50 crore, bringing its total domestic earnings to Rs 599.15 crore, according to Sacnilk.

Kantara Chapter 1 box office journey and occupancy

Rishab Shetty’s film collected Rs 337.4 crore during its first week of release, Rs 147.85 crore in the second week, and Rs 78.85 crore in the third week. In the fourth week, the film witnessed a slight jump in collections over the weekend but saw a sharp decline of 68 percent during weekdays, earning Rs 3.25 crore on Monday, Rs 3.8 crore on Tuesday, before falling further on Wednesday.

As per reports, it had an overall 11.44% Kannada occupancy on Wednesday, 8.79% Telugu occupancy, 13.37% Hindi occupancy, and 17.39% Tamil occupancy.

As per Sacnilk, Kantara Chapter 1 has grossed approximately Rs 817 crore worldwide, including around Rs 707 crore in India and Rs 110 crore overseas, after 26 days. The website states that the film is well on course to finish with Rs 875+ crore worldwide but the target now looks difficult after the makers recently confirmed its digital release from October 31 for South Indian versions. However, as per makers, the film’s worldwide collection stood at Rs 852 crore during the same time frame.

All the box office records broken by Kantara Chapter 1

* The film has become the most-watched Indian title of 2025 in theatres. In 26 days, it has sold approximately 3.20 crore tickets in India across all languages, beating Chhaava’s 3.10+ crore admissions to become the number one movie of 2025.

* The prequel has also crossed 1 crore (10 million) footfalls in its dubbed Hindi version, becoming the first South Indian film of 2025 to achieve this feat. The Hindi version surpassed the footfall seen in the original Kannada version of around 80 lakh admissions, while the Telugu, Malayalam, and Tamil versions together have sold over 1.30 crore tickets so far.

* Kantara Chapter 1 registered the third-highest single-day collection of 2025, behind Rajinikanth’s Coolie Coolie (Rs 65 crore) and Pawan Kalyan’s They Call Him OG (Rs 63.75 crore). It also outperformed the opening day numbers of Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava (Rs 52 crore).

* Kantara Chapter 1 has also emerged as the second-highest-grossing Kannada film of all time, after Yash-starrer KGF Chapter 2, whose worldwide collection stands at Rs 1215 crore. However, Kantara Chapter 1 dethroned its predecessor Kantara (2022), which had earned Rs 407.82 crore worldwide during its theatrical run.
