Grammy award-winning singer Anita Baker says she was shocked after learning that an arrest
warrant was issued against her for owing more than USD 15,000 to a company that worked on her mansion.

The warrant was issued after the attorney of a painting and decorating contractor claimed to a court that Baker, 56, failed to pay the USD 15,000 bill for renovation work on her Grosse Pointe, Michigan home in 2009 and did not even show up for the hearing on the scheduled date, said The Hollywood Reporter.

“What?!!… sitting in the kitchen watching this on TV. Big time crazy. Attorney on his way to TV Station,” Baker tweeted after watching the news on TV.

“We certainly would have liked to resolve it before now. We just want to try to get my client his money,” said attorney Daniel Gerow, who represents the firm, Ray Smith Painting and
Decorating.

However, Baker’s attorney Jamal Hamood said he plans to file a motion to cancel the warrant.

“She had paid them almost USD 60,000, and the contract was supposed to be far less than that, and at the end, ended up with a job that was very shoddy. Very poor workmanship. She
has pictures,” Hamood said.
