The Mohanlal-Sreenivasan combo has only rarely disappointed Malayalam cinema viewers. From films like Nadodikattu (1987), Pattanapravesam (1988), Akkare Akkare Akkare (1990), Mukunthetta Sumitra Vilikkunnu (1988) and Sanmanassullavarkku Samadhanam (1986) to Chandralekha (1997), Midhunam (1993), Udayananu Tharam (2005) and Mazha Peyyunnu Maddalam Kottunnu (1986), the duo always hit the home run.
Since the late 2000s, their relationship has, however, been strained with Sreenivasan taking potshots at the superstar on multiple occasions. After making scathing remarks against Mohanlal last month, which received criticism from many including his son Dhyan, Sreenivasan has now said that there is no enmity with Mohanlal and that they will work together again.
The actor further mentioned that his son Vineeth also has similar a dream and hinted that it might happen first.
Responding to a question on whether he likes Mohanlal, Sreenivasan said that there has never been so great a reason to hate him. “I am not the type to hide anything. Sometimes, people won’t like it. Those who are saying that there is enmity between us must be getting rewarded in some way,” he added.
In an interview with The New Indian Express last month, when asked what is his take on Mohanlal, Sreenivasan quipped, “He is a complete actor.” In 2012, Sreenivasan acted in a film titled Padmasree Bharat Dr Saroj Kumar, which had subtle digs at Mohanlal. The movie even mocked the actor’s honorary position of lieutenant colonel conferred by the Territorial Army of India. When asked if acting in the film affected his relationship with Mohanlal, the actor said, “Even otherwise our relationship was not that great (laughs out).”
When asked what were the issues between him and Mohanlal, Sreenivasan said, “There were plenty. I have openly called out his hypocrisies. I want to write all these before I die.”
Soon after this, Sreenivasan’s son Dhyan admitted that his father had crossed the line by calling Mohanlal a hypocrite.
