Over two months after the much-anticipated Mahesh Narayanan project, headlined by Malayalam superstars Mohanlal and Mammootty, officially went on floors, South Indian icon Nayanthara has joined the cast, further enhancing its star power. Tentatively titled MMMN, the movie marks Mohanlal and Mammootty’s first film together in key roles after a gap of 16 years since Twenty:20 (2008). On Sunday, production house Anto Joseph Film Company released a video capturing Nayanthara’s arrival on set.
The one-minute clip shows her warmly interacting with Mammootty, director Mahesh Narayanan and others. MMMN also marks Nayanthara and Mammootty’s first film together since Puthiya Niyamam (2016). The two previously co-starred in movies such as Bhaskar the Rascal (2015), Rappakal (2005) and Thaskara Veeran (2005). While the video also shows the set prepped for filming, complete with camera setups, it deliberately avoids revealing any actual footage from the movie, keeping the storyline under wraps. Alongside Mohanlal, Mammootty and Nayanthara, the film also stars Fahadh Faasil and Kunchacko Boban in key roles.
The film’s pooja and switch-on ceremony took place in November last year in Colombo, Sri Lanka, in the presence of the two superstars. Since then, filming has been progressing at a steady pace, with several key scenes featuring the four lead men already completed. The production spans multiple locations, including Sri Lanka, London, Abu Dhabi, Azerbaijan, Thailand, Visakhapatnam, Hyderabad, Delhi and Kochi, over a 150-day schedule.
Earlier, rumours had suggested that Mohanlal would only have a cameo in the film. However, Mahesh Narayanan dismissed these speculations, telling The Hollywood Reporter India, “All the actors have solid characters with lots of material to perform. Lal sir is going to appear in a full-fledged role.”
In addition to its lead cast, the film also features Revathi, Darshana Rajendran, Zarin Shihab, Renji Panicker, Rajiv Menon, Prakash Belawadi, Danish Husain, Shaheen Siddique and Sanal Aman in significant roles. While the movie is bankrolled by Anto Joseph, Subash Manuel George and CR Salim are also on board as co-producers. Manush Nandan — known for his work in movies such as Manmadan Ambu (2010), Happy New Year (2014), Thugs of Hindostan (2018), Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani (2023) and Dunki (2023) — is serving as MMMN’s cinematographer.
