Mohanlal is the only Asian on Peaky Blinders star Cosmo Jarvis’ list of favourite actors, featuring Charlie Chaplin, Anthony Hopkins and Daniel Day-Lewis
Cosmo Jarvis revealed his all-time favourite actors in a list that included Mohanlal alongside global cinema icons such as Charlie Chaplin, Anthony Hopkins, and Daniel Day-Lewis.

It appears that Malayalam superstar Mohanlal’s fandom knows no bounds and extends beyond just Malayalees or Indians, in general, to include admirers from across the world. What makes this even more intriguing is that Cosmo Jarvis, an accomplished English actor known for his roles in blockbuster streaming series like Peaky Blinders and Shōgun, has also revealed himself to be a fan of Mohanlal, highlighting the lasting impact the Indian cinema legend has had on his craft.
In a recent interview, Jarvis revealed his all-time favourite actors in a list that included Mohanlal alongside global cinema icons such as Charlie Chaplin, Anthony Hopkins, Daniel Day-Lewis, Melissa Leo, Gary Oldman, and Kathy Bates. Notably, Mohanlal was the only Asian actor to make it onto Jarvis’s list.
During an interview with Article magazine, Cosmo Jarvis was asked who his favourite thespians were, to which he replied with a long list of legends. “Charles Chaplin, Bruno Ganz, Peter Sellers, Anthony Hopkins, William Fichtner, James Gandolfini, Ned Dennehy, Daniel Day-Lewis, Nick Nolte, Rutger Hauer, Michael Shannon, John Lynch, Melissa Leo, Joe Pesci, Ricky Gervais, John Belushi, Lee J. Cobb, Gary Oldman, Burgess Meredith, Viggo Mortensen, Gene Hackman, Jean Reno, Paul Mendelsohn, Kathy Burke, Kathy Bates, William Hurt, Gerard Depardieu, Mohanlal, John Candy, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Joaquin Phoenix, John Goodman, Paul Giamatti, and loads more,” he said.
He also listed There Will Be Blood, Lawrence of Arabia, Fargo, Wings of Desire, King of Comedy, Manon des Sources, 2001: A Space Odyssey, The Big Lebowski, The Master, Notre jour Viendra, One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest, No Country For Old Men, and the Antichrist as some of his favourite films.

Renowned for his performances in movies like Lady Macbeth (2016), Calm with Horses (2019), Persuasion (2022), and Warfare (2025), Cosmo Jarvis gained widespread recognition with his performances in Peaky Blinders and Shōgun. He was most recently seen in the Robert De Niro-starrer The Alto Knights and the D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai-led Warfare.
A two-time recipient of the National Film Award for Best Actor, Mohanlal is one of the most accomplished actors in Malayalam cinema and often regarded as one of the finest the country has ever produced. A prominent face in the regional industry for the past four and a half decades, Mohanlal has appeared in over 350 films across various languages, including Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, and Kannada.
