The release of Malayalam film Padmini has been postponed due to the ongoing heavy rain in Kerala. The movie was scheduled to release in theatres on July 7.

The film, starring Kunchacko Boban, Aparna Balamurali, Madonna Sebastian and Vincy Aloshious, is directed by Senna Hegde and written by Deepu Pradeep.

Aparna took to Instagram to share the news of Padmini’s postponement. She wrote in the caption, “Due to the heavy rains, PADMINI release has a slight change of date. Will let you know the new release date soon.”

The trailer of Padmini released on Thursday hinted at a family entertainer.  The film revolves around the character of Rameshan, a school teacher by profession and his journey of finding the right life partner. However, he eventually heads for a divorce.

Talking about Padmini, director Senna Hegde told The Indian Express, “This is a very simple film that audiences would love seeing Kunchacko Boban in, especially considering it has been a while since he last starred in a (lighthearted) movie like this. Most of his recent films over the past year or two have been quite intense. We are confident that the people’s interest in witnessing Chackochan in such a setting will work in our favour”

The new release date of the film is yet to be announced.
