Kerala High Court rejects Kavya Madhavan’s anticipatory bail plea

The Kerala High Court on Monday rejected popular Malayalam actor Kavya Madhavan’s bail plea as the police have guaranteed that she would not be arrested. Her husband actor Dileep is in remand in connection with the abduction and assault of a Malayalam actress.

According to media reports, Kavya’s bail plea stated that police officers and some sections of the media were intent on damaging the reputation of Dileep’s entire family by dragging Kavya’s name in the case. “Despite completely destroying the life and promising career of Dileep and that of his teenage daughter in the process, a group of unscrupulous senior police officers, a small-but-powerful section of the film industry and scores of obliging media personnel are trying to destroy Dileep’s entire family by implicating Kavya in the case and arresting her,” said the statement. Reportedly, the actor also stated that she was threatened to be made an accused if certain ‘illegal demands’ were not met. She further added that the Special Investigation Team was humiliating her in public by allowing prime accused Pulsar Suni to talk to the media in bits and pieces as he is taken to court. Kavya’s name was involved in the case after the prime suspect Pulsar Suni said that he received money from her.

On the other hand, the court postponed the bail plea of Dileep’s close friend Nadirshah who was earlier summoned for interrogation on September 17. Dileep was arrested on July 10 for allegedly masterminding an attack against a Malayalam actress due to personal vendetta. Notably, the actor has recently applied for bail for the fifth time after it was struck down several times by judiciary,
