In his resignation letter, Dileep said he had made up his mind not to be a member of any film body until his innocence in the sexual assault case was proved in a court of law.
At a press conference held today, Mohanlal said that he personally called Dileep and asked him to tender his resignation.

Mohanlal said since Dileep has stated that he would not return to AMMA until he is exonerated of the charges, technically and legally he (Dileep) is not in the organisation. Once Dileep is cleared off all charges, he can return to AMMA, said Mohanlal.
