Angamaly Diaries fame Anna Rajan trolled over comment about Mammootty, Dulquer

Anna Rajan shot to fame as ‘Lichi’, her character in her debut movie Angamaly Diaries. She was recently seen in Velipadinte Pusthakam opposite Mohanlal. She recently bore the brunt of trolls for a comment about Mammootty and Dulquer Salmaan.

Little did Angamaly Diaries’ Lichi expect the intensity of trolls an interview could fetch her. In a recent television interview, Anna Rajan was asked whom she would prefer to pair with if Mollywood superstar Mammootty and his son Dulquer Salmaan were both featured in a movie. Anna said that she would like to star opposite Dulquer while Mammuka can essay the role of her father. As the actor was recently paired against Mohanlal, Mammootty fans took the answer as an insult. Anna was trolled by Mammootty fans leading the female actor to clarify her statement in a Facebook video. Deeply disturbed by the backlash, Anna was in tears as she apologised to Mammootty fans and Dulquer fans.

“I didn’t mean to disrespect Mammootty sir. I meant it to as a joke. I didn’t expect that some sections of media would twist my comment. I am no one to insult Mammukka or Dulquer. Sincere apologies to their fans if the comment had hurt you. I want to act in both of their movies,” Anna said in her Facebook video.

A popular malayalam actor Rima Kallingal came out in support of the young actor saying that the versatile Mammootty can own a role of any age and that there was no need for her to be trolled. “I think he is a super brilliant actor and we will accept him playing a 70 year old or a 30 year old just like we will accept super brilliant actors like Shobhana, Urvashi and Revathy playing 70 year olds or 30 year olds… alle?,” Rima said in a Facebook post.

Now, Mammootty has called the young heroine. In a subsequent Facebook post, a seemingly relieved Anna said that she was overjoyed to clear things with him and thanked him for the gesture. “In fact, I was supposed to play Mammookka’s heroine but the project got delayed and I was chosen as Lalettan’s heroine in Velipadinte Pusthakam, after my maiden venture Angamaly Diaries,” she explained.

Notably, another young star Vineeth Srineevasan was trolled recently for calling Mohanlal ‘uncle’. The actor-director had shared Lalettan’s Jimmiki Kammal video and addressed the veteran actor as uncle in the caption. Vineeth received a lot of flak for not addressing Mohanlal as sir or Lalettan.
