Aavesham vs Varshangalkku Shesham box office collection: Fahadh Faasil’s film outperforms Vineeth Sreenivasan’s nepo bandwagon

According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Aavesham recorded an India nett collection of Rs 16 crore in the four days since its release on Thursday, while Varshangalkku Shesham’s domestic nett currently stands at Rs 13.3 crore. On August 14 (Sunday), both movies recorded their highest single-day nett collection in India, with Aavesham at Rs 4.75 crore and Varshangalkku Shesham at Rs 4.1 crore. Currently, Aavesham has a worldwide gross of Rs 33 crore, while Varshangalkku Shesham has Rs 30.65 crore.

In Kerala too, Aavesham has shown dominance, earning Rs 12.18 crore in four days, as reported by local industry tracker What The Fuss, with 8,13,801 admissions across 3,353 shows, achieving an occupancy rate of 84.61 per cent collectively. Varshangalkku Shesham, on the other hand, collected Rs 10.06 crore during the same period, with 6,71,261 admissions across 3,249 shows, achieving an occupancy rate of 78.16 per cent collectively.

Although the daily figures of both films are notably lower compared to Aadujeevitham, they are comparable to the highest-grossing Malayalam film of all time Manjummel Boys. Unlike Aadujeevitham, which has been experiencing a significant decline in collections after its second week due to reduced interest in rewatching, both Aavesham and Varshangalkku Shesham, akin to Manjummel Boys, are likely to attract repeat viewers, ensuring strong collections in the weeks ahead.

Meanwhile, amidst the Aavesham-Varshangalkku Shesham tsunami, Ranjith Sankar’s Unni Mukundan-starrer Jai Ganesh failed to make a significant impact. The film earned only Rs 1.19 crore in Kerala during its opening weekend, with 77,298 admissions across 1,290 shows, achieving a collective occupancy rate of just 29.57 percent, as reported by What The Fuss.
