Actor Tom Hardy has been cast to play self-proclaimed American terrorist Mark Stroman in a film adaptation of Anand Giridharadas’ book ‘The True American: Murder and Mercy in Texas’.

The film will be directed by ‘The Hurt Locker’ filmmaker Kathryn Bigelow and will centre on Stroman, who was executed in 2011 after he was found guilty of murdering two immigrants and shooting Bangladesh Air Force veteran Rais Bhuiyan in the head days after the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center in New York in 2001.

‘Zero Dark Thirty’s Megan Ellison will re-team with Bigelow to produce the film.
